Living For Christ Daily

"Then he said to them all: 'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me.'" Luke 9:23

Welcome to New Testament Christian! We have a passion for seeking truth from the Word of God. Our goal is to glorify God by proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ and by providing sound biblical doctrine on the basic beliefs of the Christian faith.

God's Plan of Salvation
The Bible tells us that it is possible to know for sure that we have eternal life: “I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life” (I John 5:13). read more

Discipline Yourself
Tomorrow morning, I don't have to decide if I'm going to read God's Word and spend time in prayer to Him. Meeting with the Lord is a discipline long-rooted in my morning routines, and my commitment to it simplifies my spirituality. It's one less decision I have to make, one more spiritual priority well woven into the fabric of my daily life. read article

A Case for Holy Living
Despite many technological advancements, the twenty-first century has entered frighteningly dark waters. Look at the headlines—the threat of global terrorism, the chaos of unthinkable criminal activity, the defilement of pornography, the confusion of gender roles, the future of the economy, the “lostness” of our children, etc., etc. People are helplessly buckled up, strapped in, and holding on to a world careening out of control into a future of even greater fear, confusion, frustration, uncertainty, and isolation. read article

Gospel-Driven Sanctification
Early in my Christian life I heard someone say, "The Bible was not given to increase your knowledge but to guide your conduct." Later I came to realize that this statement was simplistic at best and erroneous at worst. The Bible is far more than a rulebook to follow. It is primarily the message of God's saving grace through Jesus Christ, with everything in Scripture before the cross pointing to God's redemptive work and everything after the cross--including our sanctification--flowing from that work. read article

Choosing A God-Honoring Lifestyle
Many speak out against the lukewarmness and materialism of today's Christians. Much of what they have to say is accurate, but they commonly make two critical mistakes. First, they camp in the Gospels and ignore or brush off the Epistles. Yet the Epistles demonstrate the form that churches took after Christ's death, resurrection, and ascension, and after the Holy Spirit was sent to indwell his people. Since the church was not born until after the Gospels, we must look not only to the Gospels but to the Epistles to draw conclusions about the lifestyles of Christians. read article

featured topic: bible study

Bible study is a key element to the spiritual growth of a Christian. The Bible is God's written communication to us. Apart from it, we cannot know the Lord or how to live for Him. If you want to grow in your faith in Jesus Christ, then you must read and study the Bible.

Don't I Deserve to be Happy - 1 Corinthians 4:8-13
The purpose of God’s grace and God’s gifts are not for gloating or self-exaltation. But, here is where we really begin to see how completely out of focus, these believers in Corinth had become. Many of these believers were convinced that they were a successful, mature and wonderful church. They viewed themselves as the standard by which other people and other churches ought to be measured. This self-centered view of the church and Christianity blinded them to how serious of a problem they really had. Brothers and sisters, this problem is not unique to Corinth at all. Our culture is very Corinthian, and Christianity in our culture, is shot through with the same problems that were affecting the version of Christianity that Paul was addressing in this letter. read sermon

quote

C.S. Lewis"A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic—on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg—or else he would be the devil of hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God: or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon; or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to."

Who is a New Testament Christian?

Christianity is based on the life and teachings of Jesus Christ as recounted in the New Testament. The meaning of the word Christian is “belonging to Christ” (Greek word, christianos). Therefore, a New Testament Christian is a Bible believing follower of Jesus Christ.

“The disciples were called Christians first at Antioch.”
Acts 11:26b
